Dayton bowling associations to merge, streamline operations

The Dayton men's, women's and youth bowling associations will merge this year. The three United States Bowling Congress-governed organizations will collectively be known as the Greater Dayton USBC, effective Aug.

Trying for his first Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour title, Dennis Psaropoulos of Lake Worth, Fla., averaged 241.6 to take the first round qualifying lead Sunday in the PBA Senior Dayton Classic at Capri Lanes.

To the shock of no one, the Wichita State Shockers -- a perennial power -- won both the men's and women's national titles in the sport of bowling, while the Waukegan-based Robert Morris squads qualified for nationals but could not make it to the final round.
